Fashion + AV = Va-Va-Va-VOOM!
Fashion + AV = Va-Va-Va-VOOM!

New York’s Fashion Week for Spring 2020 was held earlier this month & as usual, was a multi-sensory, smashing success! The over-the-top pageantry wowed audiences, fashionistas, buyers, industry leaders, & designers alike. Ever more present in these shows – in addition to the actual garments worn by ethereal models – is the role played by Audio-Visual Technology as an entertaining & off-time crucial cast-member. AV on the Catwalk: From bright, pixel-rich visuals blaring from huge video & LED screens - to the accompanying music – audio-visual presentations have become an obvious partner to the characters on the catwalk. Fashion designers are employing elaborate AV displays to serve as backdrops & help establish the themes of their collections – adding even more ZING to their shows. Planar, LG, BrightSign, NEC, & others, all offer brilliant screens that make fabulous additions to any fashion happening. Brick & Mortar Fashion: In addition to exclusive runway shows, digital signage usage has become more & more prevalent in fashion retail spaces. This type of messaging has seductive powers, & can be used for several applications: Reinforcing brand, keeping customers entertained while waiting on line, announcing offers & sales, enticing potential clients to step-in to a store, & in some cases – it can be used as interactive shopping “helpers.” Whatever the intent, it’s obvious that digital signage is far more effective than the traditional static signage of yesteryear. A report by the Intel Corporation found that digital signage displays capture 400% more views than the more traditional static signage - & that will definitely get you more bang for your buck! Go-Ahead…Wow Me: Today’s consumers have come to expect engaging & immersive experiences, because we have all become increasingly comfortable & reliant on digital technology in our day-to-day lives. The presence of AV usage in retail spaces has certainly come a long way from the early digital signage solutions of the 1990s & early 2000s, when content was displayed on screens from DVD & VHS media players. Customers generally consider unique & engaging AV displays as positive retail experiences. These types of attention-grabbers do a great job of dazzling shoppers, & encouraging them return to those retailers. Specifically, technologies that are making the biggest impact in retail right now are touchscreens & LED screens. “Like all technology it’s about finding the right fit,” says Clas Dyrholm – CEO & Co-Founder of Reafiction (a Danish supplier of Mixed Reality & 3D Holographic Displays for the retail sector). Dyrholm adds that “…finding technology that can help drive sales in a time when sales are hard to come-by. In our world, impact often begins as a WOW factor. Once you stop people with the WOW factor, it then becomes about conversion. If the technology communicates & nudges people into engaging with the actual products, then you will see that conversion." And that’s what it’s all about! Retail’s Gotta Have It: Generally speaking, nowhere are the expectations as high & the rewards as rich as in the retail space. Creating an unforgettable in-store experience has become more important than ever, as so much of brick-and-mortar shopping has gone the way of mobile browsing & purchasing. Clothing stores MUST have dynamic & interactive experiences in order to compete within this crowded space, & the best way to draw-in & keep consumers is through bright, bold, & motion-driven visuals – often accompanied by clear & captivating audio. This is why discerning retailers are putting their trust in AV Integrators to deliver what they need in order to compete - & Captus Systems always delivers the very best in all verticals. Captus Systems can create the completely immersive, interactive AV experiences that today’s retailers demand - & we do it with extensive industry knowledge, creativity, & professionalism to back us up. The SOUND of Music (Really Matters!)
The SOUND of Music (Really Matters!)

The SOUND of Music (Really Matters!) September is CLASSICAL MUSIC Month, which brings “listening” to mind – which of course, brings speakers & sound quality to mind. If you’re not sitting in the actual audience at your local Philharmonic, then you’ll have to get your “Beethoven fix” elsewhere. The kinds of speakers that Captus Systems installs are obviously dictated by the types & sizes of the spaces in which they’ll be utilized - & below are just a few examples... Ambience: Classical music makes for soothing background sound. If your organization is the type to share it with your employees throughout the entire space - Tannoy’s CMS 603 DC BM ceiling recessed speakers would be a great fit for you. https://www.tannoy.com/Categories/Tannoy/CMS-3-0/CMS-DC/CMS-603DC-BM/p/P0BU4#googtrans(en|en) Practice Makes Perfect: Is your child a budding virtuoso? If so, they’re probably practicing in a large classroom or orchestral rehearsal space. A good bet for speakers in this case would be surface-mounted speakers like the JBL Control 5 - or for smaller rooms - the Control 25’s. https://www.jblpro.com/www/products/recording-broadcast/control-5#.XWgBRihKiUk https://www.jblpro.com/www/products/installed-sound/control-contractor-series/control-25av#.XWgBZyhKiUk Proud Parents: Going to your child’s Fall Concert at the high school? Whether they’re in the band, orchestra, or chorus - their music would surely be enhanced by a system like the Fulcrum Sound Profile S full-range speaker. https://www.fulcrum-acoustic.com/assets/pdf/Spec%20Sheets/Prod%20Spec,%20S%20v13.pdf The Bigger the Better: And for a large live performance space - the Meyer Sound self-powered Lyon Line array speakers with UMS subwoofers hanging from above, might be just the thing. https://meyersound.com/product/lyon/ https://meyersound.com/product/ums/ No matter where you go to get your Classical Music on - (or any other kind of musical entertainment) - our Team at Captus Systems has the experience & skill set to get you the technology you need to make it SOUND ITS VERY BEST! Yeah. We’ve got that!

Back to School: Shorter Than a Goldfish?!
Back to School: Shorter Than a Goldfish?!

A recent study conducted by the Microsoft Corporation found that humans now have an attention span that’s shorter than the 9-seconds attributed to that of a goldfish! Our attention spans have decreased a whopping 33% in the past 2 decades - from 12-seconds in the year 2000, to a mere 8-seconds in 2019. With this in mind, the best way to pique a student’s interest is by conforming to an “if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em” mentality. And to that end - the best way to capture the attention & imaginations of today’s students is by throwing-in some Audio-Visual stimulation. AV – Enticing Students With What They Already Know: The use of smart phones, tablets, laptops, & the like have become so commonplace among today’s school-aged population, that it makes complete sense they’d be more apt to be attentive in classrooms equipped with Audio-Visual enhancements. Two-thirds of students surveyed agreed that the sights, sounds, & interactivity of video walls, wireless presentation systems, & whiteboards truly heighten their learning experience. These systems not only create dynamic & immersive learning environments, but they also allow for collaboration with students, teachers, & institutions from afar. In the arena of higher education, colleges & universities are even using “upgraded technology” to entice potential undergrads to attend their particular establishments AV’s Increasing Role in the Classroom: Audio-Visual technology is playing more & more of an integral role within the hallowed halls of academia, from K-1 - through Grad School - & beyond. According to AVIXA’s Marketing Opportunity Analysis Report on Education (MOAR) – almost half of those surveyed reported that the use of AV technology undeniably increases their engagement & participation in a learning environment. This is a natural fit for today’s learners, who spend such a large percentage of their non-academic hours on devices driven by technology. In order to grab the attention of today’s students, educators must harmonize with the tech-driven reality of those whom they serve. Classroom Collaboration: Legrand AV is just one of the many companies that make collaborative classrooms possible. The Legrand AV brands of Chief, Da-Lite, Middle Atlantic, & Vaddio can provide classrooms with a multitude of AV solutions that’ll get even the least-interested student to perk-up. In addition to using the latest AV hardware…bigger spaces like lecture halls provide optimum spots for livestreaming content using Cloud-based platforms like Zoom, Google Hangouts, Skype, & Cisco WebEx - to name a few. And of course – lecture halls are also the perfect spaces for setting-up projectors & screens, making Audio-Visual teaching opportunities easier than ever! (legrandav.com) Bottom line: It’s all about getting students excited about education, which can be accomplished by improving the quality of their visual & auditory learning. A study done by the International Society for Technology in Education found ample proof that academic performance is highly enhanced by presenting digital content used in tandem with traditional teaching practices. Can’t be in the classroom? That’s okay, because AV technology is a terrific tool that allows for teachers to provide lessons for off-premise learners. A product such as the Robo TRAK Presenter Tracking System from Legrand AV provides smooth & precise panning & tilting motion that accurately follows an instructor as they move around the space – whether it’s from a small classroom or a large auditorium. The expertise & knowledge that the Captus Systems team provides, can easily facilitate the design & integration of the very best in AV-enriched classrooms. If your institution needs a technology refresh, we’ve got the grades to make it happen for you! Yeah. You’ve just been schooled.
