System Engineer

We’re searching for an experienced Audio-Visual System Engineer to strengthen our In-House Pre and Post Sales Engineering Team.

The Audio-Visual System Engineer is a core member of the Engineering Team.

The System Engineer works within the engineering department to support the sales and delivery teams from commencement to completion.

The System Engineer will work with the account manager to determine the preliminary system and client requirements. This includes (but is not limited to) presales concepts, strategy, technology overview, road map, equipment selection and preliminary budgets.

As a Systems Engineer you will participate in and develop construction drawings schematic design (SD), design development (DD), construction documentation (CD), and audio-visual flow diagrams.

Through system delivery, your role will be part of a larger team to support the Installation group and field engineer as the system is installed and commissioned.

Through our unique tools and process you will be able to find the information and the products quickly and confidently to develop and design the best systems in the Audio-Visual Industry.

 

Key responsibilities include:
Responsible for keeping up to date information regarding developments in the Audio/Visual industry through on going reading of trade journals, attendance at industry trade shows and other industry events.
Attend appropriate manufacturer trainings, lunch & learns as well as ongoing virtual education.
Attend on-site pre-sales and post-sales meetings with clients and others.

Pre-Sales
Conceptualize system designs and determine system requirements
Support architecture, installation and planning of audio, video and control solutions
Create Bill of Material (BOM)within System Design
Research New Equipment
Client Meetings
Create Scopes of Work
Work with Budgeting Team for Labor Estimates

Post Sales / Delivery
Develop detailed PDF markups for CAD to translate into construction drawings.
Generate functional system descriptions, complete block wiring diagrams, rack elevations, custom plates or cabling assemblies.
Reconcile the complete construction drawing package, support documentation for installation and coordination with architect and other trades.
Support projects and teams during the build phase and complete the as-built drawings for the transition to support and service.
Develop AV Related Architectural Construction Plans in AutoCad.
Develop AV Flow Diagrams in AutoCad.
Develop As-Built AV Diagrams based on Field Red-Lines.
Final sign off on project bill of materials prior to purchasing.
Vetting products and making detailed equipment design decisions.
The authority to recommend direction on scope changes and programming and commissioning activities.


Education/Certifications:
Associates/Bachelors degree required and/or equivalent experience.
Knowledge of AutoCAD and MS Office 365. Revit is a plus.
Certifications or training with at least one DSP platform to be obtained during the training phase. (Biamp, QSC, Shure, etc)
Certifications or training with at least one control system to be attained during the training phase. (Crestron, Extron, Atlona, etc)
Other relevant certifications may be required or preferred based on the technology focus of the position.

Required Knowledge, Experience and Skills:
Avixa CTS-D certification may be required within one year of employment.
A clear understanding of construction project phases Program, Conceptualization, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documentation, Construction and Commissioning.
An understanding of the construction process such as installation and integration as well as architectural and construction drawings and specifications.
Extremely detailed oriented, independent, takes initiative.
Time management skills with a track record for meeting deadlines is ideal.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to present and communicate ideas, designs, and complex systems with both technical and non-technical language.

Field Engineer

Overview:

Key responsibilities include:

The Field Engineer will Commission Audio Visual systems in the field.

The Field Engineer will have a good understanding and stay up to date on all current AV technology, including firmware, common field issues and standards.

The Field Engineer should be able to read and understand system drawings.

The Field Engineer will optimize settings in the equipment to ensure the system is operating as designed.

The Field Engineer should be able to write and modify any audio DSP files (Biamp, QSC, etc.) as well as coordinate control of the DSP with the control system programmer.

The Field Engineer should be able to load, test, and troubleshoot all control code from the control system programmer (Crestron, Extron, AMX, Atlona etc.).

The Field Engineer needs to be knowledgeable on a wide variety of equipment and different manufacturers.

A deep understanding of audio, video, control, and networking systems is important.

This position requires coordination with a wide variety of stakeholders to ensure success.

This position includes traveling to numerous customer sites to commission multiple systems and running risk assessments.

The Field Engineer will provide hands-on client training on system operation while providing outstanding customer service for deployed systems.

Daily tasks may include:

Loading, testing, and editing control code and graphical user interface files with remote assistance as required.

Configuring, & maintaining AV systems including AV racks, display screens, projectors, cameras, microphones, lighting, & the control systems for audio & visual communications.

Configuration and maintenance of AV/IP networks.

Participating in project meetings with the delivery team and client to ensure that the system’s quality and performance meets the clients’ expectations and requirements.

Working with delivery and engineering team(s) to prepare control system submittals.

Assuring each system is physically complete in accordance with Captus Systems standards and proposal.

Responsible for accurately marking-up field documentation, and maintaining and archiving all job-related configuration files, code, graphic touch panel layouts and programs in a timely manner.

Testing all equipment functionality ensuring the designed specification is met.

Documentation and identification of open punch list items.

Establishing contingency plans & completing repairs in real-time.

Skills, Experience and Education:

HS diploma or equivalent; Associate degree preferred.

5+ years of experience providing technical AV/ IT and/or field engineering support.

DSP Programming Experience.

Must have the ability to set up and color balance video displays.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent organizational skills.

Ability to learn quickly, self- motivate, and be a team player

Accountability, emotional intelligence, and integrity.

Certifications

Able to attain and maintain an AVIXA CTS-I

DSP – (BiAmp, QSC, Sound Structure etc.)
